I was part of 2024 ‘Design for Change: Sustainability in Healthcare’ Malaysia & Singapore Study Tour, where I collaborated with students from across the world, studying at universities in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, and Taiwan. We took the challenge of a 1-week design sprint, designing for a better tomorrow.

Problem area

“Healthcare facilities are being overrun with non-critical patient cases because the public does not have access to reliable medical information from home. Consequently wasting supplies and producing unnecessary travel emissions.”

Vitals machine

To tackle our problem space, we decided to design an app and accompanying vitals machine that allows you to monitor your health at home. We wanted to design this system with multiple functions to help patients personal medical needs; Easy access to vitals history, chat with a nurse, book a doctor's appointment, and so much more. Our vision was to create an all-in-one system.

I was in charge of designing the vitals machine. I did this through consulting two of my fellow team mates who were nursing students. Their insight ensured the vitals machine had the necessary functions.

The Vital Wise Vitals machine includes a blood pressure monitor, Thermometer, oximeter, and a phone stand that automatically triggers the app to open and connects to the phone when placed.
